About Chris

Chris Chun is an Australian-Chinese artist, illustrator, and textile designer known for his contemporary Chinoiserie style and vibrant, exuberant work. Through visual storytelling and symbolism, he creates pieces that forge emotional connections with collectors who appreciate the meaning in each piece.

Chris honed his craft in Europe, designing for prestigious textile studios whose clients included Giorgio Armani, Missoni, and Diane Von Furstenberg. He has also worked as a Product Manager and Creative Director, bringing a wealth of experience across product development, retail, and licensing. His role as Global Creative Director for Elephant Parade further refined his unique blend of artistic vision and commercial expertise.

His work has been featured in Vogue, Elle Decor, Belle, The Sydney Morning Herald, and leading publications worldwide. Based between Asia and Australia, Chris exhibits internationally as a fine artist and collaborates with a select group of clients around the world.

Chris's original paintings and limited edition prints have attracted a devoted following who have coined his signature style "Chunoiserie" and affectionately call themselves "Chunistas."

Beauty of Nature

In Chris's artworks, each petal and bloom reveals nature's infinite charms.

Inspired by the rich tradition of Chinese flower and bird paintings, he draws from his deep connection with the natural world to capture the graceful elegance of every flower.

Each painting invites viewers to pause and rediscover the beauty that surrounds us every day.

Chinese Zodiac

"Lunar New Year was always my favorite holiday growing up—a big family event filled with red packets, big banquets, and gatherings that made it magical. But I didn't truly understand its cultural significance until I began painting my Chinese Zodiac series.

Through my art, I hope to introduce these rich traditions to new audiences and help others like me reconnect with their heritage and discover a deeper appreciation for this culturally significant celebration!"

Chris

Wanderlust

Chris's inspiration doesn't stay in one place. For him, creativity is both traveling companion and the journey itself. Whether he's searching through vintage markets for antique botanical illustrations or experiencing an omakase dinner in Kyoto where the ceramics were just as exquisite as the food, Chris can find inspiration everywhere.

Everything in his work has a story; a sense of provenance. His paintings carry the spirit of these wanderings: the textures, colors, and memories collected along the way become part of his artistic language, reminding us that beauty and meaning can be found in the grandest museums and the smallest, most unexpected places.

Giving Back

Chris believes art has the power to create meaningful change. His collaboration with Elephant Parade helped raise awareness and funds for the protection of Asian elephants, while his limited edition print 'Hidden Tiger' continues this mission by supporting the endangered Asian tiger.

100% of all profits from 'Hidden Tiger' are donated to ARIEL for their vital work in animal law and wildlife protection. He also donates artwork to help support worthwhile charities.
